National Adoption Day 2017
Fulton County Juvenile Court will be hosting its annual ceremony for National Adoption Day on November 18th, 2017 in recognition of adoptions and adoptive families. The program will begin at 10 a.m. at the Romae T. Powell Juvenile Justice Center located at 395 Pryor St. SW in Atlanta.
In the spirit of the National Adoption Day, the court will provide a variety of fun activities for children, including face painting, clowns, and games! Fulton CASA will also have an info. booth set up in a central area during the event for individuals and groups who want to become more involved.
National Adoption Day is an effort to raise awareness of the more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent homes. Since its inception in 2000, National Adoption Day has helped place 45,500 children in permanent homes. In Georgia there are over 6,700 children in the foster care system, over 1,585 of these children have been freed for adoption and are waiting for a family.
The mission of Fulton County Juvenile Court is: to first protect children and the community in matters brought before the court, to rehabilitate children, and to restore families; and to second create opportunities for the community, partners, and stakeholders to actively engage in this mission. Fulton County CASA is proud to be a vessel in carrying out this mission.
